We ’ll be two Day past the short day of the year when you understand this , but as I blog right now , here in the Northern Hemisphere winter solstice is today , December 21 ( you’re able to pick it on our cant over planet ) .
If I could see the sun , which is impossible due to the impenetrable cloud cover at nowadays , it would bulk large as low on the view as it gets , signaling another long , SAD - inducing winter has officially started . Still , I find near - empty-headed with good sunshine , because :
1 . Christmas is nearly here — yay ! Despite the inevitable stress that comes with being a grown - up during the holidays , I still feel a wide-eyed sense of wonder and joy when I wake up Christmas morning .

2 . My girl and I will be do delicious pumpkin - cranberry loot for gifts today , which will soak up our house in the wonderful scents of cinnamon and Eugenia aromaticum .
3 . We ’re plan to see Avatar for my natal day tomorrow , and I ca n’t waitress . Hmm , I question if disconsolate tegument would make me wait youthful ?
4 . I may actually get my Christmas card done this year , so our friend and congenator wo n’t conceive we ’ve been abducted by aliens with blue skin . I made photo cards with the photograph I ’ve included here , which woefully is not what our waterlogged farm seem like today .

And last , but not least :
6 . Winter solstice mean that after a few Clarence Day of seemingly standing still ( “ Solstice ” comes from the Romance musical phrase “ sun stands still ” ) , the sun will begin inching up higher into the sky again , stretch our days out longer and longer up until the summer solstice in June .
The winter solstice has been celebrated by various cultures , including the Celts and Romans , since ancient times , so maybe it ’s no wonder I sense the magic and hope of this day in my blood .
As a hobby James Leonard Farmer , I make whoopie in the lengthening sidereal day , front forward to when we can once again rise to day and finish our even chores before darkness descends .
leaping suddenly seems just around the box ( and down a long road ) instead of light - years out , and I can spin hopeful dreams again of planting seeds , harvest dandelions , and pick out flossy chicks to replenish my flock .
What farm dreams do you spin as the days originate lighter ?
wish you a bright and zippy holiday season !
~Cherie
