Gardeners are a wacky bunch , and there are many proofs overconfident for thatstatement . What fair person would drive 50 miles – one - way on dirtroads – to a strength nursery in search of a plant they have n’t even heard ofyet ? Who else would wake up at the fracture of dawn and prowl around their frontyard take care for slugs to overwhelm in cupful of water ? Who , after all , would even wantto relate a slug ? Our passions often get the best of us . These unrelentingoutside influence make us do cockamamy , unexpected thing , things that only thosewho suffer from the same source of trigger-happy enthusiasm can understand .
Graciously accepting the uncontrollable itch to buy plant when you don’thave any more elbow room for more plants in the garden , or the need to say every bookabout garden that you may find , is the mark of an unabashed nurseryman , andunabashed gardeners are adventurous nurseryman , and those are the gardener Ilove to meet . They ’ll try out anything because that ’s what makes horticulture fun . Sometimes they come after , some clip they miss the Deutsche Mark , but through it all theyhave a salutary time and learn something along the room .
I ’ve get word some pretty far out stuff in some gardens , but no matter how wildor ridiculous a garden may be , I have never gather a genuinely passionate nurseryman Ididn’t like .
