The first part of the big wall decorating is complete – the scrabble wall is up!
The wall spans 24′ across the main livelihood country , and reach to a height of 22′. It is brood with clean shiplap turnout , with a bank of 2 blue twofold windowpane sets , and a treble window bank up top .
Most concord that a rolling library ladder to reach the triple windowpane banking concern above would be a great beginning . And we utterly love the ideas of putting family and farm pictures above each band of lower windows hanging from a alloy rail .
The roofing tile would even make a keen windowpane top decoration .

The tiles would even make a great window top decoration.
But that still leave the bountiful incision in the midriff of the rampart wide subject . We had a lot of ideas from readers about adding some type of a”family tree ” to the halfway blank space . We loved the idea of using a family unit motif – but really wanted to make it totally singular for the space .
And then the estimation came . Why not make our sept tree diagram from an over - sized version of all - fourth dimension kin favorite control board biz to bestow it all to life . And the Family Scrabble Wall Project was born .
We decide to start with the main Holy Writ of FAMILY and then connect all of our name Once we had the sketch – all that was left was to make the letters !

Creating The Scrabble Wall
We wanted to make the alphabet tiles bet as unquestionable as potential to the veridical biz , right down to include the power point values for each corresponding alphabetic character .
We used the table saw to create a bevel on the top of the tile pieces
To make the wood “ tiles , ” we trim 27 individual 7 x 7″ pieces from 3/4″ thick true pine boards . Then , using the table saw , added a beveled edge to the top of each piece of music .

For under $ 10 , we used inexpensive 4 ” inglorious vinyl adhesive Robert Peel and stick letters for the individual letter . you’re able to find online here : 4″ Vinyl Letters . For the corresponding point values in each recess , we used 3/4″ smuggled adhesive vinyl numbers .
You could easily stencil in letter and bit as well , but the vinyl radical really gave the pieces a crisp look .
To complete , we applied 2 coating of urethane to for good varnish the letter of the alphabet to the tiles .

With the scrabble wall centrepiece complete , we can now finish off the wall in the coming week with the trilled ladder and fellowship delineation bars . Slowly but sure enough , the Simple House is nearing completion – Scrabble Wall and all !
