Giant lilies and other summer treasures
Today we are visit Margot Navarre ’s garden in Bellevue , Washington .
I adore my wintertime and spring gardens but am get into the summer spirit of gardening .
Lysimachia(Lysimachiapunctata , Zones 4–8),Alchemillamollis(Zones 3–8 ) , lavenders(Lavandulaspecies , Zones 5–9 ) andNepeta(Zones 3–8 ) all do without a lot of water , as well as nofertilizerand no pesticide . There are lots of bee in this space — a healthy ecosystem . It is the sunniest space in my garden , so we grow a variety ofgarlic , tomatoes , andherbsin the galvanized containers . I always develop a different eccentric of flower in one of the containers , and this year it was cosmos withsweet pea .

This is how my front garden looks after thesnowdropshave vanished.(you’re able to check out the snowdrops here : Snowdrop Magic in Margot ’s Garden . )
Ground - coverdrifts ofAthyrium niponicum‘Pictum ’ ( Nipponese painted fern , Zones 4–9),Saxifraga× urbium(London pride , Zones 4–9 ) , and epimediums(Epimediumspecies , Zones 5–9 ) prevent weed as all the ground is filled in with plants .
TheseTulipaclusiana‘Peppermint Stick ’ ( geographical zone 3–7 ) miniaturetulips in a containerget moved to the garden beds when they are finished blooming . I relish the small plants making an impact .

On the deck of cards , the vine with thesilvery leavesis one fromDan Hinkley’scollection , anActinidia(Kiwi vine ) .
Maianthemum racemosum(Zones 3–8 ) andrhododendronsfrom the deck search into the woods
Cardiocrinium giganteum(Zones 7–9 ) will often take up to eight year to flower . These are counterbalance from previous bungle and take less than half the sentence to bloom . Located in mydry shadewoodland garden , they are the largest lily in the world . They are native to the Himalayas , China , and Myanmar .

My mom and my married man in the woodlands are taking in the lilies . Six were blooming this June .
The aroma smells like a vanilla butter cream with a hint of maize ice .
