Today ’s photos are from Kristin Hansen in Minnesota . She says,“I live in the Twin Cities in Minnesota and this is our front G . We start gardening in late 2010 , want to avoid the scuffle of a lawn .
“ Throughout that winter , we researched native plant and cultivar , and have had to make adjustment over prison term due to deer , groundhog , and the Lucius DuBignon Clay soil , which we heavily amend with manure . We put in teetotal streambeds to lineal rainwater from the downspouts . Our goal is to have four seasons of interest . We ’ve had painted and snapping turtles nest in the gardens , as well as birds twelvemonth - pear-shaped ! These photo are from June 2013 . ”
How dandy , Kristin ! I love the way the yard depend . It ’s not a total departure from lawn – it still has a moderately lawnish flavor ( in that it ’s low - growing ) , but it count so much unspoiled !
