Today ’s picture are from Cherry Ong in Richmond , British Columbia .
I want to partake in with you some amazingcontainer garden designsby Hunter Norminton . I volunteer for a local nursery . Hunter joined the nursery part - sentence last year ( he ’s a student and has no conventional horticultural training but was extremely influenced by his mom ) , and he has designed so many amazingspringandsummer container , in all sizes . He presently hump blues , and you may see this in his present summertime container designs . Hunter says he uses horticulture and vegetation as a way to relax and disconnect from the technical thinking he has to do in his university study .
This container features dramatic people of color contrasts , with coloured foliage from gratifying potato vine ( Ipomoeabatatas , Zones 9–11 or as an annual ) and bright icteric leaves of a sedge ( look likeCarex‘Everillo ’ , Zones 5–9 or a alike variety ) , while a non-white genus Calla lily ( Zantedeschia , Zones 8–11 or as an annual ) resound the dark foliage .

It is all about succulent foliage in this container , with some hardy recurrent sedum ( Hylotelephium , Zones 5–9 ) and euphorbia ( Euphorbiamyrsinites , Zones 5–9 ) mixing with sensitive varieties such as a huge , beautifulEcheveria(Zones 9–11 ) .
Dark foliage from heuchera ( Heucherahybrid , Zones 5–9),black mondo grass(Ophiopogonplaniscapus‘Nigrescens ’ , Zones 5–9 ) and lysimachia ( Lysimachiacongestiflora , Zones 7–9 ) makes the perfect background to vivid Ag foliage from lavender ( Lavandula , Zones 5–9 ) and the clean bloom of sweet genus Alyssum ( Lobulariamaritima , yearly ) .
Gold sedge foliage sets off a dark - get out New Guinea impatiens ( Impatienshawkeri , Zones 10–11 or as anannual )

A smallsucculentplanter , with various hens - and - chick ( Sempervivium , Zones 5–9 ) in the center and string - of - pearls ( Seneciorowleyanus , Zones 10–11 ) crumble over the border .
A tallornamental grassgives this container striking height .
Perennials work every bit well in container as annuals , with a purple - provide heuchera and a purpleness - blossom catmint ( Nepeta×faassenii , Zones 3–8 ) being the primary players in this combination .

It is sluttish to see why succulent have been so wildly popular . This planting brings an incredible amount of people of colour , texture , and involvement , all in an easy - to - care - for packet that wo n’t mind at all if it does n’t get watered on a regular basis .
