STAKING AND TYING

Dahlia shoots can be very brittle at their base , intend whole stems are easily break out in windy atmospheric condition .

Ideally , flora should have been stake at the time of planting in late spring . If you have n’t done this , do so now , being deliberate not to damage the root as you stick in a cane as close to the plant root word as possible . Larger plant may require several bet .

WATERING:

Water whenever the soil becomes dry . This may be every day during a red-hot or ironic spell . Mulching can reduce relative frequency .

FEEDING:

The skillful dahlias have a good supply of well - rotted manure commit around the bases soon after planting . Whether you have ply this or not , the plants should also be fed every few week throughout the raise time of year . Alternate between a seaweed tonic ( such as Maxicrop ) and a potash - rich Lycopersicon esculentum feed .

WEEDING:

Keep mourning band at bay tree with regular hoeing ( be careful not to slice into the base of the dahlia ) . Again mulching will avail suppress weeds .
