I guess you could say peppers are one of my horticulture passions . Every yr I plant as many variety of hot pepper as the container garden can hold up . However , dulcet peppers are a dissimilar news report .

I ’ve just never had good lot growing full - size Vanessa Bell peppers . Sometimes I   blame my lack of success on a short growing time of year . Other times , I think it was because the weather was too hot . Sometimes I gave up before the season was over .

But this year I decided on   a different strategy . Instead of trying to grow tumid - size bell capsicum pepper plant , I chose a small variety called Red Mini Bell fromBaker Creek Heirloom Seedsfor my   container garden .

Ah , odoriferous pepper success !

I grew several of these plants from seed and I ’m enrapture at the solvent . Each plant grew several feet tall in containers on my patio and took only 2 calendar month to bulge producing peppers . Each one is just several inches round , but the flesh is tender and quite flavourous .

I had to fend pick the first light-green ones because I wanted to watch them ripen to a bright bolshie . It ’s sport to plunk a few to slit for salad at lunch or to excavate out and make full with a creamy inclination for a light snack . I ’m sure they could also be chop up and freeze to practice in recipes over the winter .

As much as I ’m enjoying the pepper now , I have to admit I was n’t certain I ’d have any sweet peppers at all . I start out the source indoors a trivial after than usual . Then the conditions did n’t tender enough until mid - June to transplant them outside . Rollercoaster temperatures throughout the summer did n’t create idealistic rise conditions .

But this metre I did n’t give up . I made certain the common pepper pots got plenty of sun , water system , and fertilizer . I do n’t think this   small success will make me want to try   produce big   Alexander Melville Bell peppers in the future . I think it ’s just a admonisher that prominent is n’t always better .
