Claiming garden space in New York City
Today ’s photos come from David Tillyer , who garden in a very strange blank space — a honest reminder that if you do n’t have outer space for a garden , you’re able to almost always find somewhere to rise some beautiful plants ! Planting rosebush in the middle of Manhattan has become his passion . This is what David had to say :
I ’ve make some exposure of my garden at the corner of 11th Avenue and 54th Street in Manhattan . I ’m skilful at horticulture than I am at photography , and I ’m well at both of them than I am at sending masses of photo over the Internet . I set forth the garden on 11th Avenue in 2001 in an idle field of DeWitt Clinton Park . I askedpermission to put a rosaceous garden into what had been an offhand click running , and no one could thinkof a reason why I should not be allow to do it , so I just begin . I now have around 40 move up bushes in a plot of land that is 150 foot long by 18 feet wide . Parks officialsleave me alone because … I do n’t know why . I guess it means one area of a public park that they do n’t have to care about .
In 2001 , this was an impromptu dog run at the corner of 11th Avenue and 54th Street in Manhattan .

The David Austin rise ‘ Golden Celebration ’ with Jackmanii clematis(Clematis‘Jackmanii ’ , Zones 4–8 ) .
The roses ‘ Joseph ’s Coat ’ , ‘ pinkish Simplicity ’ , and ‘ Red Knockout ’ against the unusual background of a Jaguar dealership across the street .
The garden is surrounded by a beautiful wrought - smoothing iron fence . My guess is that the fence was establish in the 1930s . I can not remember the name of the vine that mount this street lamp every year .

Sometimes even the butterfly are a little raggedy on 11th Avenue .
‘ Pink Simplicity’—this rise bush is about 17 years previous .
Lucy , the poodle - mixing delivery dog , is the only one who get bored in the garden .

This beautiful fence form a endearing space for a garden . It also save the garden neat and celebrate the general populace out .
